Marconi and the Marconi Stock Scandal

One person who definitely made money from the Titanic's sudden misfortune was Gugliemo Marconi, whose radio empire received a huge boost when Congress suddenly required all merchant vessels to carry radio gear.

This is not just a suspicion: Marconi and his investors were caught red handed making stock deals with the people on the Titanic inquiry commission, some of whom directly profitted by requiring ships to use radio. The Marconi Stock Scandal is well documented and a huge story at the time -- people were outrage by such a blatant attempt to profit from the Titanic disaster.
